WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Supreme Court announced Tuesday it will hear an important case supported by Congressman Steve Stockman (R-TX 36) involving the right of Americans to keep and bear arms — Abramski v. United States. The case challenges the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’s (ATF) “straw purchase” policyAs consistent with federal law.
"It is abundantly clear that Harry Reid wants a shutdown. And now he’s gotten the shutdown that the wants." - Senator Ted Cruz, October 1, 2013
Like a bully in the school playground, Barack Obama, Democratic Leader Harry Reid, and their media cronies are demanding Republicans’ lunch money - all of it - or they are threatening to beat them to a bloody pulp.
Our answer: “Make my day!”
WASHINGTON -- Congressman Steve Stockman (R-TX 36) introduced the Safe Military Bases Act Thursday repealing the ban on the carrying of firearms on military bases. Since the Clinton-era ban there have been two mass shootings on military bases.
“Our disarmed military bases are vulnerable targets for terrorists, as we saw in Fort Hood and the Navy Yard. Despite that, soldiers trained to use guns cannot carry on base. The result is two mass killings where defenseless soldiers had to watch as their friends were murdered,” said Stockman.
"We need to revolutionize the way we look at guns, like what we did with cigarettes. ... Now (smoking) is dirty, deadly and banned."
Those words — uttered in 1994 by Dr. Mark Rosenberg, then head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Injury Prevention and Control — have epitomized a problem endemic to taxpayer-funded research on guns.
And this is why since 1996, Congress has prevented the CDC from engaging in politically motivated junk science, requiring that researchers not "advocate or promote gun control."
On Friday, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said that we should memorialize the lives lost in Aurora last year by expanding background checks and keeping dangerous firearms “out of the wrong hands.” By doing this, Pelosi said, Congress can “uphold our oath to ‘protect and defend’ the Constitution.”

‘Zero tolerance’ policies being used to punish young children for innocent play, create irrational fear of imaginary objects
Congressman Steve Stockman released the following statement Tuesday afternoon:
In response to a recent wave of schools authorities punishing children for innocent expression, I have introduced H.R. 2625, the “Student Protection Act.”
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Stockman (R-Texas 36) has signed on to a letter to President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry demanding they not sign the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.
“The right to keep and bear arms is granted by God and protecting from government aggression by the Constitution. It is not subject to the whims of global totalitarians massed in New York City,” said Stockman. “I oppose any UN treaty touching the right to keep and bear arms. It’s beyond time for the United States to withdraw from the UN.”
From Gun Owners of America: Recently, we alerted you to the intense pressure that pro-gun Senators are experiencing right now. You guys unleashed a torrent of grassroots activism in response, and we are starting to get great feedback as to where Senators currently stand.
Within the past 48 hours, we have seen clear evidence that West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin and his staff have openly lied about the status of talks with two Republican Senators.
“Gun Owners of America [has] spent the months since Newtown doing tremendous damage, insisting that expanded background checks will lead to a gun registry.” - New York Times, April 4, 2013
It’s quite a complement when the New York Times thinks that you are doing “tremendous damage.” But you can be sure that the other side is not going to go away quietly.
And sure enough, the Obama Administration is trying to unilaterally undo our recent victory in the Senate - and to undo the “damage” that all of us inflicted together.
But first, a little history.
